To connect Dibba Port with its fast ferry network, NFC signs an agreement to construct ramp system for shipping vehicles and cargo - Sunday, 03 November 2013

The National Ferries Company (NFC) has recently signed an agreement with a well-known international specialized company to construct vehicles/cargo shipping ramp at Dibba Port in Musandam governorate. This stage of the joint development efforts among the various government institutions with the aim of achieving a comprehensive development in the various regions of the Sultanate.

Thus, the new ramp will provide technical support regarding berthing NFC’s fast ferries with various sizes at the port. In addition, this ramp advanced system has the capability regarding dealing with the several natural conditions in both low and high tide. Also, it allows disembarkation of passengers/vehicles, direct berthing of fast ferries and landing craft. Additionally, it assists NFC’s LC “Halaniyat” for loading and/or unloading cargo. Besides, it has the capacity to accommodate vehicles weighing up to 20 tons.

This agreement signed by NFC comes as a complimentary process for developing and improving Fisheries Port Project in Dibba region which covers dredging work started by Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries.

It is envisaged that the launching of fast ferry service in Dibba will facilitate the citizens to travel from Dibba and to it neighboring villages. Besides, it will promote and energize the maritime commercial activities and tourism activities. Furthermore, it will increase the volume of goods entering Dibba port, and promoting tourism activity.
