NFC Ferries Carry Over 220000 Passengers and 54000 Vehicles in 2016

 NFC's annual statistical bulletin showed that for the last five months of 2016, 1,703 passengers used the Company’s
regional trips to the Iranian ports.

 

 

 
 
 
Recent statistical bulletin of National Ferries Company (NFC) showed that the Company carried 220859 passengers onboard of its vessels in 2016 compared to 205579 passengers in 2015, achieving an annual growth of 7%.

The statistics also showed that 54078 vehicles were carried by NFC during the same period compared to 52771 vehicles in 2015, an increase of 2%. On the other hand, the cargo traffic witnessed a significant increase and grew to 15179 tons compared to 8232 tons in 2015.
 
The Company’s annual stats for 2016 revealed that the Company carried in the second half of last year around 120988 passengers forming 55% of the total number of passengers in 2016 in addition to 29438 vehicles which form 54% of the total number of vehicles as compared to 99871 passengers and 24640 vehicles in the first half of the year.

Shannah- Masirah route maintained its leading rank as 167996 passengers were carried through this route forming 76% of the total number of passengers achieving the highest occupancy rate of 46%. 48828 vehicles have been carried through this route which account for 90% of the total number of vehicles carried by the Company vessels in 2016.
 
The Company’s market share  of the Shannah- Masirah route is 28% of passengers and 31% of the vehicles. This was achieved through 2512 trips by the Company’s (Shannah and Jawharat Masirah) vessels as opposed to 7237 trips that were operated by the 12 vessels owned by citizens
