The number of passengers via ferries rose by 6.9 per cent during the first quarter of 2014 compared to the corresponding period of 2013. The monthly bulletin of the National Ferries Company (NFC) pointed out that the number of passengers on board of the ferries stood at 10,493 during March 2014 against 9,810 passengers during the corresponding period in 2013.

Technical issues at Shannah and Masirah ports have delayed the launch of ferry services to the Wilayat of Masirah, said National Ferries Company (NFC). Mehdi bin Mohamed al Abdwani, CEO of NFC, said in statement to Oman News Agency (ONA) that the company is keen on providing technical requirements for anchoring of ferries in Shannah and Masirah ports before the launch of the service.

The number of passengers via ferries rose by 8 per cent at the end of February 2014 compared to the corresponding period of 2013. Vehicles shipping also grew by more than two per cent during the same period.
