Call centres and booking offices of the National Ferries Company in Muscat, Shinas and Khasab witnessed a great rush last week. Citizens and residents alike continued to make reservations at the offices, with passenger traffic heading from Muscat to Musandam reaching 90 per cent during the week, while vehicular cargo bookings stood at 100 per cent. During October and November this year, the number of passengers who travelled on board speed ferries stood at 9,383, while a total number of 1,593 vehicles were transported.

The signing of the shipbuilding contract for two (2) ROPAX Catamaran (vessels) for Shannah Masirah run recently was unveiled and announced by National Ferries Company’s Chairman, Mr. Mehdi Al Abduwani. The contract was signed with Strategic Marine (V) Co. Ltd, an experienced international aluminium ship builder.

The National Ferries Company (NFC) has started implementing Royal orders of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said to run services between the Wilayats of Shinas-Diba-Khasab.

The amphibious ship Al Halaniyat affiliated to the National Ferries Company left Shinas Port yesterday with foodstuff and equipment on board heading to Dibba Port to mark the launch of the shipping service between the two ports.

The National Ferries Company (NFC) organized last Thursday an experimental trip to Bahonar Port in Bandar Abbas in the Islamic Republic of Iran. The trip comes within the company's efforts to activate Ishqabad agreement,which the Sultanate joined as per the Royal Decree (No.108/2011).
