NFC has joined forces with the UK-based Direct Ferries portal to make ferry travel in Oman accessible to travellers around the world. Direct Ferries (www.directferries.co.uk) provides bookings for ferry crossings in over 211 countries and islands..

(NFC) announced on Monday that it will start operations to Bandar Abbas and Qeshm Island in Iran from July 28. Mehdi bin Mohammed al Abdawani, CEO of NFC said that the launch will be held to mark sultanate’s celebrations of the Renaissance Day.

The number of passengers through ferries till the end of February 2016 grew by 24%, compared to the corresponding period in 2015.

The statistics issued by the National Ferries Company (NFC) pointed out that the number of passengers reached more than 37,000 passengers, while vehicles transportation registered a growth by 19% during the same period.

Ferry trips registered a rise in passengers to 51,824 during the first quarter of 2016, an increase of 15.23 per cent,

compared with 42,083 passengers in the same period of 2015

A pilot voyage from Sultan Qaboos Port to Chabahar Port in the Islamic Republic of Iran on board the ferryboat “Hormuz” was operated by the National Ferries Company (NFC).
