The statistics released by the National Ferries Company (NFC) pointed out that the number of passengers transported by the company fleet amounted to 31,916 as at the end of August 2014 compared to 20,927 passengers during the same period last year, a growth by 52 per cent.

In what will bring much relief to citizens, residents and tourists when launched, the National Ferries Company (NFC) is working on starting services on the Muscat-Masirah route. Speaking to the media recently, Mahdi bin Mohammed Al Abdwani, CEO of NFC, said, "We will launch Muscat-Masirah route after completing the construction work at Shanna and Masirah harbours."

The possibility of connecting Khasab port with Iran seems to be on the fast track with a meeting on the final agreement on the International Transport and Transit North-South Corridor - also known as the Ashgabat Agreement - between Oman, Iran, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan taking place in Muscat last week.
