NFC Trips:   A True Addition for Achieving Comprehensive

 

The National Ferries Company (NFC), one of the companies of the Asyad Group, continues to strive to achieve the goals it has set in its development strategy, which aim at providing convenient maritime transport to citizens and residents.

 These goals are in addition to the promotion of various sectors of tourism and commercial development through the transport of individuals, vehicles and goods, in accordance with the best practices in place in the global maritime transport sector.

 According to the latest statistics issued by the company at the end of October 2018, the number of passengers and vehicles on the fleet of ferries is increasing. The number of passengers transported by the end of October 2018 stood at 202,590, an increase of 2.2 per cent compared 198,262 passengers during the same period in 2017.

 

The number of vehicles transported by the end of October was 51,138 with a growth rate of 0.4 per cent, compared to 50,916 vehicles in the same period of 2017. The cargo volume reached 10,057 tonnes.

 

The company is keen to develop its promotion and operation plans, in line with the extensive development steps that the Sultanate is undergoing under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said to enhance and integrate all efforts to achieve comprehensive development.

The company is currently providing services to seven local ports through the operation of 69 weekly journeys. It is looking forward to reaching more local ports. A contract was recently signed for the design and construction of a vehicle loading and unloading bridge from the ferries at the fishing harbour in the Niyabat of Lima, which will be implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. It is one of the most important development projects to serve the citizens in the social and commercial fields, in addition to its role in promoting tourism.

The company is also preparing for the coming period to launch the electronic booking system for ferry journeys, which will contribute to reducing procedures and saving the time and effort of passengers and enabling them to easily complete their bookings.

Ramp to be built for vehicles at Lima port - Sunday, 30 September 2018

An agreement worth RO500,000 has been signed by the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries with Khimji Ramdas company for the design and construction of a ramp for the movement of vehicles from the ferry to the port at Lima in Khasab.


The project is designed to facilitate the movement of cars to and from the ferries of the National Ferries Company.

The project is aimed at helping the fishermen and fish traders to transport their products from the port of Lima to the local and foreign markets.

For the second time .. "Mwasalat" and "National Ferries" join their services through land & sea; Launch Muscat Shannah - Masirah Route on next Friday - Tuesday, 17 April 2018

In pursuance of service integration, and as a culmination of efforts to develop public transport services within the Sultanate’s logistics sector, Oman National Transport Company "Mwasalat", in coordination and cooperation with the National   Ferries Company (NFC), will launch, for a second time, a new joint route connecting land with   the sea, as of next Friday, 20 April 2018.


The new route is named "Muscat-Shannah-Masirah" and uses "Mwasalat" buses through the land, and NFC’s ferry to Masirah Island in a daily round trip throughout the week. The new route provides passengers with the flexibility to start or end the journey in other cities of the Sultanate without incurring additional costs or using other means of transportation.

 

The route will start from Al-Athaiba station, through Muscat International Airport, then Al Sahwa Tower, to Samad Ash Shan and then to Sinaw, with the bus journey ending at Shannah harbour.  Thereafter, passengers will board the ferry to Masirah Island. However, the return trip will be on the same route, on reverse direction, beginning this time the journey from Masirah Island on the ferry trip and concluding at the starting point at Al-Athaiba station in Muscat Governorate.

 

 

In order to facilitate benefiting from the two companies’ new joint service, passengers can buy or book tickets through the customer service center or from the various offices of the two companies or while on the bus.
 
Mwasalat and National Ferries launched their joint services for the first time, through land and sea, via the Muscat-Shinas-Khasab route in August 2017.

 

 

 



NFC Achieves 12% Transport Volume Growth in First Quarter - Monday, 16 April 2018

National Ferries Company’s (NFC) latest statistical bulletin revealed 12% increase in transported passenger and vehicles, and 7% increase in cargo, on board ferries by the end of the First Quarter of 2018 compared to the same period of last year.


According to the statistical bulletin, the company transported 61,155 passengers within the first three months of the current year compared to 54,544 during the same period last year, i.e. an increase by 12%.

Total number of vehicles transported on board the ferries, during the first quarter of the current year, increased by 12% to 15,750 vehicles, compared to 14,027 during the same period in 2017.

 

Additionally, the company transported 2,677 tons of goods, during the first quarter, registering an increase of 7%, compared to 2,512 tons in 2017.
