NFC transports over 7K passengers during Al Isra and Al Miraj holiday

The National Ferries Company (NFC) transported 7,638 passengers and shipped 1,596 vehicles on board of 87 journeys in various destinations during the week that included Al Isra and Al Miraj holiday, the NFC statistics showed.

The statistics also showed that 5,769 passengers were transported through Shannah-Masirah route with a 62% increase, in addition to 1,399 vehicles with a 61% occupancy rate. On Shinas-Khasab route, 783 passengers were transported with 87% occupancy rate, as well as 179 vehicles with 99% occupancy rate.

The occupancy rate on Lima-Diba route reached 80% through transporting 799 passengers. The total number of passengers on Lima-Khasab route stood at 207, in addition to 80 passengers and 18 vehicles on Shinas-Diba–Lima route.


The NFC statistics indicated that during the first three months of 2019, the company managed to transport 60,486 passengers, 15,060 vehicles and 3,118 tons of cargo.

أظهرت الإحصائية الصادرة عن الشركة الوطنية للعبّارات عن نقل 7 آلاف و 638 مسافراً وشحن آلف و 596 مركبة خلال الأسبوع الماضي الذي تضمن إجازة الإسراء والمعراج من خلال تنفيذ 87 رحلة في مختلف الوجهات، واظهرت ابرز المؤشرات بأنه تم عبر خط شنة - مصيرة نقل 5 آلاف و 769 مسافراً بنسبة اشغال بلغت 62%، وشحن آلف و 399 مركبة محققة نسبة اشغال بلغت 61%. وعلى خط شناص - خصب تم نقل 783 مسافر بنسبة اشغال بلغت 87%، وشحن 179 مركبة بنسبة اشغال 99%. فيما بلغت نسبة الأشغال على خط ليما - دبا 80% من خلال نقل 799 مسافرا .في حين بلغ إجمالي المسافرين على رحلات ليما- خصب 207 مسافر، بالإضافة إلى نقل  80 مسافر و 18 مركبة على خط شناص - دبا - ليما.

واشارت الاحصائيات العامة للشركة الوطنية للعبّارات خلال الربع الأول من العام الجاري عن نقل 60 ألف و 486 مسافر و شحن 15 ألف و 60 مركبة وشحن 3 آلاف و 181 طن من البضائع.

NFC to increase ferry trips to meet holiday demands


National Ferries Company (NFC) has announced that it will increase the number of trips to its various destinations this week, especially on Al Isra’a Wal Miraj holidays, in response to passengers’ demand to open up new and suitable options during the holidays.

 Nabhan bin Mohammed al Nabhani, Director of Media and Public Relations at the company, said that the schedule of ferry operations included this week 84 journeys, six of them on Shinas-Khasab route, which will provide 792 seats and the possibility of shipping 152 vehicles. Eight journeys are allocated for Diba-Lima route in the Governorate of Musandam, providing about 800 seats.


He added that the schedule also includes 8 journeys on Khasab-Lima-Diba route in Governorate of Musandam to carry 800 passengers and 54 vehicles, as well as a return journey on Shinas-Diba route. Al Nabhani said, “Due to the expected demand on Shanna-Masirah Island journeys, 60 journeys between Shanna-Masirah Island route will be available, providing 8,760 seats and 2,100 vehicles during the current week to and from Masirah Island.


الوطنية للعبارات تزيد من رحلاتها خلال الأسبوع الجاري

أعلنت الشركة الوطنية للعبّارات زيادة عدد رحلاتها الى مختلف وجهاتها خلال الأسبوع الجاري المتضمن إجازة الاسراء والمعراج استجابةً لمتطلبات المسافرين لفتح خيارات مناسبة وجديدة خلال فترة الإجازات.

وقال نبهان بن محمد النبهاني مدير الإعلام والعلاقات العامة في الشركة إن جدول العمليات التشغيلية لرحلات العبارات تضمن خلال الأسبوع الجاري تنفيذ 84 رحلة، منها 6 رحلات على خط (شناص – خصب) مما سيوفر ما يقارب من 792 مقعداً وإمكانية شحن 152 مركبة، وتخصيص أيضاً 8 رحلات على خط دبا – ليما بمحافظة مسندم، موفرة بذلك ما يقارب من 800 مقعدا.


واضاف إن جدول الرحلات يتضمن ايضا تسيير 8 رحلات على خط خصب – ليما – دبا في محافظة مسندم لتتيح امكانية نقل 800 مسافرو 54 مركبة. علاوة على تنفيذ رحلة مرتجعة على خط شناص – دبا. وأوضح مدير الإعلام والعلاقات العامة أنه نظراً للطلب المتوقع على رحلات خط شنة – جزيرة مصيرة فقد تم تخصيص 60 رحلة ما بين شنة وجزيرة مصيرة موفرة بذلك 8760 مقعدا و 2100 مركبة خلال الأسبوع الجاري من وإلى جزيرة مصيرة.







NFC CARRIES 243,069 PEOPLE, 61,244 VEHICLES IN 2018 - Sunday, 06 January 2019

The recent bulletin of National Ferries Company (NFC) shows that the company carried 243,069 passengers on board its vessels in 2018 compared to 240,700 in 2017, achieving an occupancy rate of 59 per cent and a growth of one per cent.


Statistics also showed that 61,244 vehicles were carried by NFC during the same period compared to 62,014 in 2017, registering an occupancy rate of 52 per cent and a decline by one per cent. The cargo traffic during 2018 stood at 13,184 tonnes.


The statistics indicated that the index of departures for the outbound vessels (the Punctuality Index) was 96 per cent and the service reliability index was also 96 per cent.

NFC through its various operations strategies and integrations of journeys has contributed to the scheduling of journeys according to the needs and demand during 2018, allowing the number of passengers to increase although there was a decline in the number of journeys by nine per cent to reach 3,348 compared to 3,794 in 2017.



Over 8,000 used NFC ferries during National Day holidays - Wednesday, 28 November 2018

The National Ferries Company (NFC), one of the companies of the Asyad Group, achieved a high occupancy rate of 75 per cent during the National Day and Prophet's (PBUH) Birthday holidays.

According to statistics issued by the company, the number of passengers transported on board its vessels between November 20 to 24, stood at 8,098. The company also transported 1,769 vehicles during the same period.


The statistics showed that 61 trips were taken on the Shanah-Masirah route, on which 6,511 passengers and 1,559 vehicles were transported by the company. Furthermore, the company undertook 7 trips on the Shinas-Khasab route, transporting 895 passengers and 184 vehicles during the same period.


Two trips were also operated on Shinas-Dibba route, transporting 134 passengers and 26 vehicles, while Lima-Dibba route transported 518 passengers.

The National Ferries Company (NFC), one of the companies of the Asyad Group, continues to strive to achieve the goals it has set in its development strategy, which aim at providing convenient maritime transport to citizens and residents.

 These goals are in addition to the promotion of various sectors of tourism and commercial development through the transport of individuals, vehicles and goods, in accordance with the best practices in place in the global maritime transport sector.


 According to the latest statistics issued by the company at the end of October 2018, the number of passengers and vehicles on the fleet of ferries is increasing. The number of passengers transported by the end of October 2018 stood at 202,590, an increase of 2.2 per cent compared 198,262 passengers during the same period in 2017.


The number of vehicles transported by the end of October was 51,138 with a growth rate of 0.4 per cent, compared to 50,916 vehicles in the same period of 2017. The cargo volume reached 10,057 tonnes.


The company is keen to develop its promotion and operation plans, in line with the extensive development steps that the Sultanate is undergoing under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said to enhance and integrate all efforts to achieve comprehensive development.


The company is currently providing services to seven local ports through the operation of 69 weekly journeys. It is looking forward to reaching more local ports. A contract was recently signed for the design and construction of a vehicle loading and unloading bridge from the ferries at the fishing harbour in the Niyabat of Lima, which will be implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. It is one of the most important development projects to serve the citizens in the social and commercial fields, in addition to its role in promoting tourism.

The company is also preparing for the coming period to launch the electronic booking system for ferry journeys, which will contribute to reducing procedures and saving the time and effort of passengers and enabling them to easily complete their bookings.



 In the area of social responsibility, the company works on the development of rural areas through the support and sponsorship of many activities and events in ways that benefit the economic and social community. The efforts of National Ferries Company are not confined to boosting the maritime transport system, but have also worked to Omanise the senior maritime positions, attract young Omanis to work in the ferry crew, and create new career opportunities for the market, many of whom have become captains of the latest ferry fleet.

The company is counted on in the implementation of the national logistics strategy of the Sultanate led by Asyad Group to promote economic diversification in the Sultanate through the integration of the company's services with some of the companies of Asyad Group to enhance efficiency and reduce the cost of providing services by organising joint bus and ferry trips and contributing to the Group's unified communication centre to achieve added value, especially in the transport and shipping sectors.

Ramp to be built for vehicles at Lima port - Sunday, 30 September 2018

An agreement worth RO500,000 has been signed by the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries with Khimji Ramdas company for the design and construction of a ramp for the movement of vehicles from the ferry to the port at Lima in Khasab.

The project is designed to facilitate the movement of cars to and from the ferries of the National Ferries Company.

The project is aimed at helping the fishermen and fish traders to transport their products from the port of Lima to the local and foreign markets.

For the second time .. "Mwasalat" and "National Ferries" join their services through land & sea; Launch Muscat Shannah - Masirah Route on next Friday - Tuesday, 17 April 2018

In pursuance of service integration, and as a culmination of efforts to develop public transport services within the Sultanate’s logistics sector, Oman National Transport Company "Mwasalat", in coordination and cooperation with the National   Ferries Company (NFC), will launch, for a second time, a new joint route connecting land with   the sea, as of next Friday, 20 April 2018.

The new route is named "Muscat-Shannah-Masirah" and uses "Mwasalat" buses through the land, and NFC’s ferry to Masirah Island in a daily round trip throughout the week. The new route provides passengers with the flexibility to start or end the journey in other cities of the Sultanate without incurring additional costs or using other means of transportation.
